Welcome to The Survival Academy!

Survival Academy was an academy for learning, sharing knowledge and taking action on climate change with focus on the human dimension.

The first Survival Academy took place under COP15 in Copenhagen December 2009

PURPOSE
The intention was to complement the political negotiations with a series of events exploring how we need to change and what new capacities we need to learn in order to create the transformations necessary to face the current and future climate change reality.

SURVIVAL ACADEMY IN NUMBERS
• 35 events took place
• Around 300 from 20 different countries participated in the events
• A wide crowd of citizens, employees, consumers, social entrepreneurs, politicians, activists, leaders, and members of communities and organisations participated
• 557 people from all around the world signed up as members on this website

THE SURVIVAL ACADEMY CONFERENCE MODEL
• Self-organizing: A clear invitation for all to participate with an event
• Decentralized self-financing
• Based on social networking tools
• Flexible, and with capacity to grow to whatever size is appropriate (including parallel events in other countries)

WHAT’S NEXT?
The Survival Academy will go on. In what form is we are still eager to explore. Do you have suggestions don’t hesitate contacting us by emailing Julie: julie@survivalacademy.org

One thing we do know is that there is still a need for learning skills and tools to be able to address the climate change challenge.
